Once again BlackBerry came back in the news; this time with
more information given out about the stalled cross-platform version of is
instant messaging service, the very well-known BBM.
While BBM for iOS and Android had been slated for release
last week, but because of some technical problem it is a week delayed now and
BlackBerry could not launched it on Google Play store and App Store. While the
chances of launching BBM soon, on cross platform are decreasing day by day now.
While the crossover app has been picked up by a few lucky
users in New Zealand, Australia and India, the mass launch had to be stopped
when a leaked Android APK managed to throw a wrench in the company's server
banks.
The account, which was set up just before the cross-platform
app was set to launch, has now said that BlackBerry is “still 100% committed to
bringing #BBM to Android and iPhone.” This indicates that the company still has
its teams working out on how to block the leaked APK so that its servers can load
back to a manageable level.
But tweets from official BlackBerry team gives the hope that
BlackBerry’s dev team is still working on cross platform version on instant messenger
BBM. But they are not giving the exact time frame of when it will be launched
but instead they want users to signup for their newsletter for updates on the
launch.
Important thing is, recently BlackBerry EVP of BBM, Andrew
Bocking, said that we did not see any high likehood about the BBM being
launched on Android and IOS.
So, it’s a mixed reaction from BBM itself. But we hope, they’ll
soon launch this on both Android and IOS. Finger’s crossed!
